Amman, Sept. 14 (Petra) - Lawmakers met with Ugandan leaders on Monday in London to explore new avenues for economic cooperation and expand Jordanian exports and investments into East African markets.

Officials discussed joint ventures with Uganda’s Prime Minister, Investment Minister, and business executives.

Economics and Investment Committee Chair Khaled Abu Hassan said that trade and investment serve as gateways to deeper political ties. Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Haitham Zayadin discussed the role of parliamentary diplomacy and friendship committees in providing a supportive framework for bilateral business growth.

The lawmakers noted that foreign diplomacy must translate into real economic gains for Jordan, fulfilling His Majesty King Abdullah II's vision for regional expansion.

Ugandan leaders commended the King for strengthening bilateral ties, pointing to Jordan's stability and strategic location as an ideal base for trade. They expressed strong interest in long-term partnerships targeting Jordanian pharmaceuticals, technology, agriculture, and manufacturing.

The meetings were held on the sidelines of the UK-Africa Investment Summit 2026.

Speaking at the summit, Abu Hassan called for moving from dialogue to action by establishing bankable investment partnerships that yield mutual economic benefits.
