6/ Amman Marathon Finalizes Race-Day Plans Ahead of Oct. 2 Start

Amman, Sept. 13 (Petra) -- Organizers of the Bromine Amman Marathon are finalizing race-day arrangements for the Oct. 2 event, bringing together security, medical and traffic authorities to coordinate the course, emergency response and participant safety.

Run Jordan is stepping up preparations for the marathon’s 16th edition, reviewing operational details ranging from water stations and timing systems to volunteer deployment and traffic management along the race route.

Run Jordan Director General Lina Al-Kurd met with the organizing team to assess progress and review coordination among the different units responsible for the event.

The meeting covered course readiness, water stations, timing, volunteers, public safety and support services, as well as procedures designed to ensure a rapid response to any developments during the race.

A separate coordination meeting brought together the course and operations directors with representatives of security, medical and traffic agencies to review field preparations.

Discussions focused on managing traffic along the marathon route, medical coverage, public safety and procedures for responding to emergencies or other situations that may arise during the event.

The meeting included representatives of the Operations and Control Department, Central Traffic Department, Women’s Police, Stadium Security Unit, Central and North Amman police directorates and Preventive Security, as well as the Royal Medical Services and Civil Defense.

Al-Kurd said close coordination among the organizing teams and partner agencies is essential to ensuring that every component of the event is ready and that participants have a safe and well-organized race-day experience.

Preparations will continue this week with a meeting of the officiating committee to review technical aspects of the races.

Organizers will also conduct field visits along the course with universities and volunteer groups to familiarize teams with their locations and responsibilities before race day.

Held under the slogan "Run in the Heart of Amman," the event will feature the 42.195-kilometer full marathon, a marathon relay, the 21-kilometer half marathon and a 10-kilometer race, along with categories for persons with disabilities.

The Bromine Amman Marathon will carry the World Athletics Road Race Label for the second consecutive year in 2026, maintaining its place on the international road-running calendar.
