76/ Jordan welcomes IAEA board decision on Syria
Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs on Wednesday welcomed the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopting a resolution regarding Syria, which effectively closes the board's review of the safeguards agreement implementation in the country following its full cooperation with the agency. The ministry expressed its appreciation to all IAEA Board of Governors member states for reaching consensus on the resolution, which was drafted and submitted jointly by Arab member states on the board: Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Morocco. The ministry noted that the consensus reflects international support for recent positive developments regarding the Syrian file. Spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, reaffirmed Jordan's firm position supporting Syria's reconstruction efforts on foundations that guarantee its unity, sovereignty, security, stability, territorial integrity, and the protection of all Syrian citizens' rights. //Petra// AF
