74/ Lebanese Army: Israel escalated strikes and committed massacre in Kfar Remman

Beirut, Sept. 9 (Petra) -- The Lebanese Armed Forces reported on Wednesday that Israel has intensified its targeting of residential areas and civilian infrastructure over recent days, resulting in heavy casualties, including a massacre in the southern town of Kfar Remman that killed at least 12 people, including women and children.

In an official statement, the military said the escalating attacks and ongoing demolitions across southern Lebanon clear any doubt regarding Israel's aggressive intentions. It noted that these actions violate international law, undermine existing security arrangements, and impede the army's efforts to establish stability.

The Lebanese Army affirmed its complete commitment to fulfilling its obligations under the framework agreement signed on June 26. It stated that it has begun operational control measures in designated model zones in coordination with the military coordination group for Lebanon, according to plans drawn up by army leadership, despite pending agreements on subsequent phases.

The military reported that Israeli forces have breached the agreement approximately 7,700 times since its signing, noting that Israeli troops have also opened fire near army personnel and patrols.

The statement added that repeated violations have triggered new waves of displacement from areas previously deemed safe, accusing Israel of attempting to undermine the Lebanese military's credibility both domestically and internationally.

The Lebanese Army concluded that a complete cessation of Israeli attacks and violations remains the essential condition for the military to finalize its deployment and execute its mandate under the framework agreement.
