62/ Jordan, Eurasian Economic Union explore growing trade ties

Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra) - Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah met in Moscow with Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Daniyar Imanaliev to discuss expanding trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

Boosting joint coordination will create new commercial avenues for Jordanian and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) business sectors while expanding overall trade volume, both ministers stated.

Implementing the existing memorandum of understanding hinges on establishing a dedicated trade and investment working group, Qudah said, calling for its first session to convene in Moscow later this year.

He added that drafting a targeted roadmap and aligning regulatory policies serve as necessary prerequisites for launching formal free trade agreement (FTA) or preferential trade agreement (PTA) negotiations, creating fresh opportunities for private-sector expansion.

Imanaliev, for his part, voiced the EAEU’s interest in evaluating options to boost economic frameworks with Jordan, stressing the need to transition from dialogue to "actionable steps that deliver concrete mutual benefits."
