40/ Lower House speaker hails int'l crackdown on Israeli settlement goods, policies

Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra) - Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi commended the "growing" international action against illegal Israeli policies in the occupied Palestinian territories on Wednesday.

Commending 12 countries decision to impose restrictions on Israeli settlement goods and services, Qadi said the move as an "explicit rejection of Israel's unilateral policies on the ground." He noted that such measures remain consistent with international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2334.

In a Lower House satement, he said: "Real peace hinges on ending the occupation and securing an independent Palestinian state," Qadi emphasized.

He also urged action against settlement expansion, land confiscation, and settler violence, calling them "systematic" threats to the two-state solution.

Voicing Jordan's position under His Majesty King Abdullah II, Qadi affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to diplomatic and legal efforts to defend Palestinian rights, protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and push back against Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

He urged the global community to move beyond verbal condemnation and implement concrete measures against the Israeli government, warning that continued violations will only drag the region into deeper conflict.
