39/ Vocational Training Corporation Forms Committee on Labor Market Needs
Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra) -- The Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) on Wednesday launched the Technical Committee for the "Partnerships for Development: Vocational Training and Labor Migration" project, which seeks to strengthen cooperation in vocational training and labor migration and align training programs with labor market needs. The committee held its inaugural meeting, chaired by the VTC Director General Raafat Sawafine, with the participation of representatives from national and international partner institutions. The project is being implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and the VTC. The newly appointed committee brings together representatives from the Ministry of Labor, VTC, the German Embassy, GIZ, the Jordan Chamber of Industry, the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission, the Goethe-Institut Jordan, and the German Jordanian University. During the meeting, participants reviewed the project’s implementation plan and key activities for 2026-2028, focusing on mechanisms to institutionalize project activities and sustain their outcomes beyond the project’s lifespan. Committee members also discussed coordination mechanisms with partner institutions, as well as the next steps for effective implementation and closer coordination between national and international efforts. Participants stressed the importance of continued cooperation, clear implementation mechanisms, and regular monitoring of progress to maximize the project’s impact and ensure the sustainability of its outcomes. The efforts are expected to contribute to further developing Jordan’s vocational training system in line with labor market needs and emerging trends in vocational training and labor migration. //Petra// AJ
