Aqaba, Sep. 9 (Petra) – Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and Tkiyet Um Ali (TUA) on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement to implement food and community support programs for households and children in the Aqaba governorate.

The agreement entails a "sustainable" food support program and "Back to School" and winter support campaigns for the 2026–2027 period.

During the signing ceremony, ASEZA Chairman Shadi Majali emphasized the authority's commitment to strengthening partnerships with national institutions and civil society organizations in Aqaba.

He noted that the move focuses on training and empowering the governorate's youth, referring to initiatives that address needs of families and children and support the most vulnerable groups, which would create new social value in Aqaba.

For her part, ASEZA Vice-Chair and Commissioner for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Karima Aldabet underscored the importance of the partnership with Tkiyet Um Ali, as a "model of integration" among national institutions in supporting beneficiary families and bolstering the social responsibility system.

She stated joint collaboration reflects the authority's commitment to its social role and developmental and economic duties.

Calling for sustaining such partnerships, she said this effort would address needs of the local community and contribute to improving quality of services and support provided to beneficiary families.

In turn, TUA Director General Samer Balqar affirmed the organization's commitment to implementing the programs and initiatives outlined in the agreement.

He noted that this package aims to sponsor a number of beneficiary families for one year and provide monthly food parcels.

He said the agreement also covers implementation of a "Back to School" campaign, which will provide school bags, supplies, uniforms, and food items for children, as well as a winter campaign that supplies coats and blankets to beneficiary children.

As for its role, the agreement involves participation of the authority's volunteers in carrying out the program and monitoring of aid distribution stages.

This approach enhances operational efficiency and ensures delivery of support to the target groups.
