Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra) -- Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi on Wednesday said the chamber stands firmly behind the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and security agencies in confronting threats to the Kingdom, condemning the Iranian missile attack and rejecting any justification for targeting its territory or airspace.

In a statement issued by the Lower House, Qadi said the security of the Kingdom and Arab Gulf states is interconnected and indivisible, warning that an attack on any Arab country threatens the wider framework of Arab security and stability.

He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s solidarity with Gulf states and rejected any attempt to undermine their security or sovereignty, saying attacks on the Kingdom and Gulf countries pose a direct threat to Arab national security and to regional and international stability.

Qadi described the Iranian missile attack on the Kingdom as unacceptable under any circumstances, stressing that targeting Jordanian territory or airspace can only be regarded as an attack on the country. He categorically rejected Tehran’s attempts to justify the strikes under any pretext.

He reaffirmed the Lower House’s united support for His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in preventing violations of the Kingdom’s airspace and maintaining the country’s position that it will not become an arena for regional conflict.

The security of the Kingdom and the safety of its citizens take precedence over all other considerations, Qadi said, stressing that dialogue and political solutions remain the only path to shielding the region from further escalation.

He praised the JAF’s readiness and the capabilities of its air defense systems, saying the armed forces have consistently demonstrated their ability to protect the Kingdom’s territory, airspace and population. He also commended military personnel for their efforts in responding to threats and protecting citizens.

Qadi stressed that the Kingdom would neither allow its territory or airspace to be used as a battlefield nor accept its sovereignty and the security of its citizens becoming subject to regional calculations.

He described the Kingdom’s sovereignty and national security as a "red line," adding that national unity and a cohesive domestic front remain essential to confronting challenges.

Continued attacks on the Kingdom and Gulf states risk widening the conflict and threatening the security and vital interests of Arab countries and their peoples, Qadi warned.
