34/ Jordan, Palestine partner to boost religious tourism

Amman, Sept. 7 (Petra) - Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Emad Hijazeen and his visiting Palestinian counterpart, Hani Hayek, discussed on Monday expanding bilateral tourism cooperation and developing joint packages, particularly in religious tourism.

Hijazeen voiced Jordan’s readiness to share its expertise to support Palestine's tourism sector.

He pointed to the Kingdom’s 2030 preparations for the 2,000th anniversary of Jesus’s baptism as a catalyst to strengthen the Kingdom's religious tourism and attract Christian pilgrims worldwide.

Hayek expressed appreciation for Jordan’s support in protecting Palestinian heritage, specifically citing Amman’s efforts to register sites like Sebastia in the occupied West Bank as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Jordanian and Palestinian tourism delegations explored initiatives in product development, staff training, and museum curation to enhance visitor experiences and showcase regional heritage.

They agreed to form a joint working group to map out strategic priorities, draft an actionable roadmap, and monitor the execution of joint tourism projects.
