55/ Three killed in Israeli drone strike on southern Lebanon as displacement surges

Beirut, Sept 6 (Petra) -- Three people were killed on Sunday evening when an Israeli drone targeted a parking lot in Nabatieh al-Tahta in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced.

A Lebanese security source told Petra's correspondent in Beirut that a series of airstrikes targeted the areas of Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Nabatieh al-Tahta, coinciding with intense bombardments concentrated in Al-Mansouri in the Tyre district, as well as the towns of Zawtar al-Sharqiyya, Aitaroun, and Wadi al-Salouqi.

The source added that a heavy wave of displacement is being recorded from the Nabatieh areas toward Sidon and Beirut due to the ongoing airstrikes and shelling.

The Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the ministry reported that the cumulative total of casualties from Israeli aggression on Lebanon since March 2 has reached 4,362 dead and 12,378 injured. It noted that the total toll since Oct. 8, 2023, has risen to 8,929 dead and 30,614 injured.

The center further stated that the death toll within the health sector has reached 135, with 416 injuries, while 17 hospitals have sustained damage.
