43/ House's Palestine Committee slams Israeli ministers over Gaza displacement plans
Amman, Sept. 6 (Petra) - The Lower House's Palestine Committee slammed on Sunday recent statements by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Defense Minister Israel Katz regarding plans to forcibly displace Palestinians. The committee declared that forced displacement is a "red line" for Jordan, rejecting any scheme to push Palestinians out of their homeland, whether from Gaza, the West Bank, or any other occupied territory. "The Palestinian people will not be uprooted from their land, and Palestinian territory is not subject to bargaining or redistribution at the whims of the Israeli government," the committee's statement read, adding that any resolution must be built on Palestinian soil through an independent state and self-determination. The committee noted that proposals floated by Israeli officials "flagrantly violate" international law, the Geneva Conventions, and relevant UN resolutions. Backing Jordan's joint diplomatic stance, the committee stressed that forced displacement "will never legitimize Israeli occupation or erase Palestinian rights." //Petra// HA
