Amman, Oct. 12 (Petra) -- Southern Military Zone troops on Monday foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs, tracking guided balloons used in the operation as they crossed the frontier into Jordan.

Border guard units detected the balloons within their area of responsibility and brought them down inside Jordanian territory.

Carrying the interception in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, troops seized the contraband and referred it to the competent authorities for legal action.

The Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army said it continues its efforts to protect the kingdom's borders and confront infiltration and smuggling attempts, using an advanced surveillance system in close coordination with security agencies.
