27/ Jordan, Int'l Date Council boost ties for palm sector growth

Amman, Oct. 5 (Petra) - Agriculture Minister Saeb Khreisat held a virtual meeting with International Date Council (INTDC) Executive Director Princess Sara Saud to explore boosting cooperation and expanding Jordan’s date and palm industry.

The talks centered on leveraging international expertise to make Jordanian dates more competitive, support local farmers, and enter new global markets.

Khreisat said developing the date sector is a top priority for the ministry.

The two sides pointed to the benefits of council membership, including access to investment platforms, joint projects, and unified market data on prices, quality standards, and production trends.

They also discussed participating in targeted council initiatives and leveraging international studies to attract investments and expand trade networks.

The meeting confirmed Jordan’s nomination for a seat on the INTDC’s Executive Board for the upcoming term, seeking to bolster the Kingdom's active role in shaping global date industry policies.
