Ramallah, Oct. 5 (Petra) –– Israeli occupation forces raided Birzeit University north of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank early Monday, accompanied by a military bulldozer and backed by large reinforcements.

The university said in a statement that Israeli forces entered the campus, demolished and seized a memorial honoring university students killed by Israeli forces in previous years, and detained a member of the university’s security staff.

The forces also entered several university facilities and deployed around the campus during the raid, the statement added.

Birzeit University has been subjected to repeated Israeli raids, some of which have resulted in arrests and injuries. In late September, Israeli forces raided the university and photographed the memorial, according to the university.
