9/ Educational Inclusion Initiative Anchors Equal Opportunity Mandate in Aqaba
Aqaba, May 17 (Petra) – The Aqaba Inclusive Education Forum 2026 launched on Sunday as a primary operational milestone within the Promoting Quality Inclusive Education in Jordan (PROMISE) framework. The convention brought together pedagogical leadership, international development partners, and community stakeholders to institutionalize equitable educational access and modernize instructional delivery across the governorate’s schooling network. Abdul Wahab Al-Hajjaj, Director of the Aqaba Directorate of Education, emphasized during the opening address that shifting toward inclusive educational models functions as a critical baseline for systemic educational reform. Al-Hajjaj stated that creating learning environments tailored to heterogeneous student needs ensures equal participation margins, commending the localized efforts of educators, administrators, and non-governmental partners in executing inclusive programming within Aqaba’s schools. Jonas Lucas, Development Counselor at the German Embassy, noted the institutional alignment between the Ministry of Education and the executives managing the PROMISE program. Lucas explained that implementing inclusive frameworks serves as a direct path toward educational equity and sustainable socio-academic integration for all students. He affirmed Germany’s ongoing commitment to funding and supporting strategic programs aimed at enhancing Jordan’s educational infrastructure. The forum featured an interactive institutional exhibition showcasing pedagogical initiatives, adaptive learning aids, and classroom modifications developed by participating schools to support diverse learner profiles. Student performances were integrated into the agenda to demonstrate the impact of inclusive school environments on student engagement and talent development. The launch event, attended by Hiyam Al-Maayteh, Director of Educational Affairs, alongside a cross-section of educational specialists, concluded with a formal recognition ceremony honoring partner institutions, school principals, and frontline educators who have driven the implementation of inclusive protocols.
