Amman, May 17 (Petra) -- The Grand Mufti of Jordan Dr. Ahmad Al-Hasanat, announced on Sunday that Monday will mark the first day of the Islamic holy month of Dhu al-Hijjah for the Hijri year 1447.

The official religious declaration marks the beginning of the annual Hajj (pilgrimage) season and establishes the timeline for the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday, which traditionally begins on the tenth day of the lunar month.
