24/ Officials review preparations for 40th Jerash Festival for Culture, Arts

Jerash, May 17 (Petra) -- Relevant authorities met at the Greater Jerash Municipality on Sunday to review preparations for the 40th Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, focusing on enhancing logistical and organizational readiness and strengthening coordination among stakeholders.

Jerash Governor Malek Khraisat underscored the importance of the Jerash Festival as a leading national cultural event that reflects Jordan’s heritage and cultural depth. He called for continued inter-agency coordination to ensure the success of the upcoming edition and to elevate preparedness across all operational levels, reinforcing Jerash Governorate’s status as a hub of history, culture, and tourism.

Head of the Greater Jerash Municipality Committee Mohammad Bani Yassin said the municipality plays a central role in providing logistical and service support during the festival, including cleaning, maintenance, preparation, and upgrading public services before, during, and after the event to ensure operational continuity.

He added that municipal operations are coordinated through an integrated system of committees, including services, logistics, local affairs, women’s empowerment, cultural affairs, fine arts, media, tent, and administrative committees, ensuring institutional cohesion across service, cultural, field, and media dimensions.

Bani Yassin said the meeting aimed to review operational tasks, assess municipal responsibilities, and enhance joint coordination to ensure the festival is delivered in a manner befitting Jerash’s historical and cultural significance.

Director of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts Yazan Khudair said the festival represents a key economic driver for Jerash Governorate, contributing to the local economy through job creation and increased income opportunities for residents during its duration.

He noted that the 40th edition comes at an exceptional stage, requiring intensified efforts and closer coordination among institutions to ensure the event is presented in line with the festival’s standing and Jordan’s cultural message, while maximizing its positive economic impact on the local community.

Discussions also covered logistical and operational arrangements for festival venues, the terms of a cooperation agreement between the Greater Jerash Municipality and the festival administration, and mechanisms to strengthen coordination among official, security, and service entities to ensure integrated implementation.

The meeting is part of ongoing preparations ahead of the festival’s launch, reflecting a participatory approach and continuous field coordination aimed at enhancing readiness and consolidating Jerash Festival’s position as one of the region’s most prominent cultural events.
