20/ Contract to supply, operate smart systems for 376 buses for 6 public universities

Amman, May 17 (Petra) –Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) signed a contract for the installation, supply, and operation of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) for buses operating under the government support program.

These systems will serve 6 public universities and contribute to the Kingdom's digital transformation.

According to a LTRC statement issued on Sunday, the project aims to create a "new" concept for student transportation by providing smart solutions that make daily commuting "safer, more reliable, and more regular."

This process will ensure development of a "sustainable and highly efficient" public transportation system that meets the users' needs and reduces their travel time.

Scheduled to commence on the third quarter of this year, the project will equip 376 medium-sized buses serving 29 university routes with a comprehensive and advanced digital infrastructure.

This system features a suite of advanced technological solutions, mainly e- payment systems via smart cards, a GPS tracking system, and modern surveillance cameras to enhance safety.

Additionally, the service features real-time passenger information displays and a financial clearing system to ensure the "highest levels of integration and coordination among operational processes."
