35/ Audit Bureau, Cybersecurity Center sign MoU to enhance digital oversight, cybersecurity governance

Amman, May 14 (Petra) – The Audit Bureau and the National Cyber Security Center on Thursday signed a strategic memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation, enhancing coordination frameworks, and exchanging expertise to support oversight and compliance with national cybersecurity standards and policies across public sector institutions.

According to a statement issued by the Center, the memorandum seeks to enable public sector institutions to effectively address rapidly evolving digital challenges, ensure compliance with the highest national cybersecurity standards, and strengthen oversight of systems and operational processes. It also provides for the exchange of reports and practical recommendations between the two sides.

The agreement further focuses on building institutional and human capacities through specialized training programs and workshops, with the aim of enhancing institutional efficiency, consolidating digital governance practices, and reinforcing institutional sustainability. It also seeks to safeguard the Kingdom’s vital data and information and strengthen Jordan’s regional standing in the field of cybersecurity.

The President of the National Cyber Security Center, Mohammed Samadi, said the memorandum represents a key step toward deeper integration between oversight and compliance mechanisms and the national cybersecurity system. He underscored that this integration will contribute to protecting government systems and improving cybersecurity risk management within public sector institutions.

He noted that the accelerating pace of digital transformation has increased the importance of embedding cybersecurity concepts within auditing and oversight processes.

Samadi detailed that cooperation with the Audit Bureau will support efforts to verify compliance with national cybersecurity policies and standards, while also enhancing the ability of government institutions to detect vulnerabilities and address risks before they affect business continuity or compromise data integrity.

He added that the partnership reflects a national commitment to advancing digital governance and strengthening cybersecurity readiness in the public sector through expertise exchange, capacity-building initiatives, and the development of technical cooperation mechanisms, thereby reinforcing transparency, accountability, and institutional performance efficiency.

For his part, the President of the Audit Bureau, Dr. Radhi Al-Hamadeen, commended the National Cybersecurity Center’s efforts in developing Jordan’s national digital security system, noting that these efforts have contributed to positioning the Kingdom as a regional leader in cybersecurity.

He highlighted that the memorandum aligns with the Audit Bureau’s efforts to strengthen financial and administrative oversight and enhance institutional performance through the adoption of smart digital solutions and modern technologies in auditing computerized systems and analyzing big data. He noted that this aligns with the Bureau’s strategic plan for 2024–2027, which focuses on developing institutional capabilities, increasing the effectiveness of oversight, consolidating digital governance principles, and implementing advanced digital solutions.

Dr. Al-Hamadeen further detailed that the strategic plan includes establishing partnerships with specialized national and international institutions to strengthen auditors’ capabilities in electronic auditing and support their attainment of professional certifications related to information systems evaluation, data protection, and compliance with international standards.

He added that these efforts aim to enable the Bureau’s staff to audit information systems, review digital processes, manage risks, and safeguard information assets, ensuring transparency, compliance, and business continuity in line with the highest international standards, while leveraging the national cybersecurity framework in audit and oversight operations conducted by the Bureau.
