20/ Aqaba Entities Discuss Digital Integration of Truck, Port Operations Systems
Aqaba, May 14 (Petra) -- Stakeholders in Aqaba’s transport and logistics sector on Thursday discussed mechanisms for electronic integration and operational coordination between systems governing truck movement, transport documentation, and operational permits, as part of efforts to accelerate digital transformation at the Port of Aqaba. The coordination meeting brought together representatives from the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, Aila Digital Solutions Company, Blue Ray Company, and the Aqaba Ports Management and Operation Company. Participants stressed the importance of enhancing digital integration and real-time data exchange among relevant entities to streamline operational procedures, improve port efficiency, reduce waiting times and operational costs, and strengthen oversight of truck movement and regulatory compliance. The meeting resulted in an agreement to unify loading permit data and operational authorizations, while establishing an electronic linkage between land transport documentation systems and the operational platforms used by Ayla Quarry Company. Participants also agreed to adopt customs declarations as the primary reference source for cargo, shipment, and operational quota data to ensure data accuracy and consistency across all participating systems. Discussions further covered operational procedures related to issuing electronic transport documents and permits, in addition to automated verification mechanisms aimed at preventing duplication and inconsistencies in operational processes. The Aila Digital Solutions Company presented plans to deploy smart gates and surveillance cameras in truck staging and preparatory areas, alongside the development of a smart application enabling drivers to electronically monitor assigned routes without the need to visit operational offices. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to establish a fully integrated digital operating environment based on real-time connectivity and rapid-response technologies. At the conclusion of the meeting, participants agreed to immediately begin technical integration and electronic linkage procedures between the relevant systems, while preparing periodic progress reports and a unified technical framework governing data exchange and approved operational procedures. //Petra// AJ
