  15/ Industrial production rises 2.5% in March of 2026

Amman, May 14 (Petra) -- Jordan's industrial production index increased by 2.5 percent in March compared with February and rose by 1.1 percent year-on-year, according to data released Thursday by the Department of Statistics.

The department’s monthly report showed that industrial production volumes recorded a cumulative increase of 0.33 percent during the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same period last year.

The report noted that the base year for the index has been updated to 2018=100, replacing the previous 2010 base year.

The industrial production index reached 87.98 points during the January-March period of 2026, compared with 87.69 points in the corresponding period of 2025.

On a monthly basis, the index stood at 88.77 points in March 2026, up from 86.61 points recorded in February and higher than the 87.81 points registered in March 2025.

The cumulative increase during the first quarter was driven by a 2.94 percent rise in electricity output, a 2.67 percent increase in mining sector production, and a 0.05 percent increase in manufacturing output.

Year-on-year, the March increase reflected a 10.32 percent rise in electricity production and a 0.67 percent increase in manufacturing output, while mining sector production declined by 1.42 percent.

Compared with February, industrial production in March was supported by a 13.57 percent increase in electricity output, a 5.95 percent rise in extractive industries production, and a 1.59 percent increase in manufacturing activity.
