33/ Jordan's 1st Hajj convoys depart for Saudi Arabia
Amman, May 13 (Petra) – The first convoys of Jordanian pilgrims Wednesday departed from the Pilgrims' City in the Giza district, south of Amman, marking the beginning of the official Hajj season. The land transport of pilgrims will continue over the next two days via the Mudawwara border crossing to the Saudi city of Medina before traveling to Mecca to perform the Hajj rituals. During his patronage of the pilgrims' farewell ceremony, attended by the Saudi Ambassador to the Kingdom, Prince Mansour bin Khalid Al Saud, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalaileh, said pilgrimage represents "the journey of a lifetime" and embodies the values of devotion and faith. Khalaileh noted the Jordanian pilgrims carry a "positive image of Jordan during this great season of faith." He stated the ministry had prepared a "comprehensive" plan to serve pilgrims from their departure until their safe return. Urging pilgrims to adhere to piety, patience, and good conduct during Hajj rituals, he said piligrimage is a school for refining behavior and self-control. Khalaileh commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's significant efforts in serving the pilgrims and ensuring their safety and security. He urged pilgrims to comply with the instructions of the relevant Saudi authorities to guarantee all's safety and the success of the Hajj season. In turn, the Saudi ambassador affirmed his country is always honored to serve the pilgrims and dedicates all its resources to facilitating their journey to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility. //Petra// AG
