Amman, May 13 (Petra) -- A senior official at the University of Jordan Hospital was detained on Wednesday pending investigation into an alleged embezzlement case involving nearly JD1 million, according to the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission.

The commission's prosecutor ordered the detention of the head of subsidiary funds at the hospital for 15 days at Marka Reform and Rehabilitation Center.

According to a commission statement, preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly embezzled close to JD1 million over several years.

The commission said the suspect had previously been referred to the public prosecution.
