26/ Private sector 'directly' invested to develop green hydrogen, ammonia project-JGA

Amman, May 12 (Petra) – Jordan Green Ammonia Company (JGA) on Tuesday confirmed the green hydrogen and ammonia development project in Jordan is now implemented with direct investments from the private sector.

The company said the government assumes no financial obligation, whether in terms of injecting investments, or allocating funding in this context.

The government is also free of any obligations to purchase the final product.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the company said its shareholder structure includes Hynfra and Fidelity Chemical Industries, which are financially and administratively linked to Fidelity, headquartered in Abu Dhabi.

The company indicated that the current registered capital is JD5,000, which will be increased after completing the project's related legal and regulatory procedures.

Regarding the project's progress, the company revealed that it has allocated approximately $30 million to reach the "Ready to Build" stage, while actual expenditures to date have reached nearly JD10 million, equivalent to about $14 million.

The company stated these funds were spent on preparing technical, engineering, legal, and consulting studies under collaboration with several specialized international companies and institutions, including Dar Al Handasah, Penspen UK, Cameron McKenna CMS, Roland Berger, DNV (Netherlands), and Topsoe, among others.

The company indicated that the project's estimated capital cost is approximately $1.1 billion, adding that the final cost will depend on global prices at the time of project implementation.

On its feasibility, the company noted the project represents a "significant" step forward in efforts to develop clean energy and green hydrogen projects in Jordan.

This scheme would enhance the Kingdom's position as a "regional hub for sustainable energy and green investments."
