18/ Jordan, Hungary talk economic, educational cooperation
Amman, May 11 (Petra) - The Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee on Monday discussed with Hungarian Ambassador to Jordan Péter Gy?rk?s Jakab ways to boost ties and expand economic and educational cooperation between the two countries. The committee's chairman, MP Haitham Zayadin, stressed the close Jordanian-Hungarian relations and the importance of building on cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of both countries, the committee said in apress release. Zayadin called for deeper cooperation, particularly in trade, economic and educational fields, noting that around 450 Jordanian students are currently studying in Hungary, reflecting a deep academic cooperation between the two sides. He also highlighted the importance of attracting Hungarian investments to the Kingdom in light of Jordan’s security and stability, while commending Hungary’s support for the positions of His Majesty King Abdullah II, particularly regarding the Palestinian issue. MPs Dima Tahboub and Mohammad Sabayleh called for support for vocational and technical education for Jordanian students studying in Hungary to better align with labor market needs. They also urged the transfer of Hungarian expertise to Jordan in water management, renewable energy, smart agriculture and railway sectors. For his part, the ambassador said Jordanian-Hungarian relations are witnessing notable progress across various sectors, praising the level of relations and noting Jordan’s role in hosting waves of refugees despite challenges. //Petra// NQ
