Irbid, May 11 (Petra) -- Yarmouk University and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) signed a memorandum of understanding to develop academic and training programs using sport as a tool for peacebuilding and strengthening social cohesion, while supporting women’s economic empowerment in the sports sector. The MoU was inked by Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences Ahmad Bataineh, and on behalf of GIZ by Lilly von Stackelberg, coordinator of the WoMENA project. It provides for integrating the "Sport for Development" methodology into academic and training programs, enabling students to acquire conflict-sensitive teaching skills. It also includes workshops and training programs targeting faculty students and public school students, with a focus on promoting positive leadership and nonviolent behavior. The MoU also supports students in obtaining accredited sports coaching licenses in cooperation with the Jordan Football Association, helping improve their career prospects in the sports sector. The two sides said the partnership is a valuable opportunity to enhance students’ readiness for the labor market and promote the values of peace, inclusion, and empowerment through sport. //Petra// AO
