7/ Amended Civil Status Law published in Official Gazette
Amman, May 9 (Petra) – Law No. (9) of 2006, amending the Civil Status Law, was published in the Official Gazette and will enter into force upon publication. The amendments integrate a legal provision for adopting the "digital identity," established on e-applications and approved by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. The e-version of the national identity card is now officially recognized for all purposes, in accordance with applicable legislation. Under the amended law, every Jordanian citizen who has reached the age of 18 must register their address with the Civil Status Department. In a fresh amendment, the "digital mail address" must also be registered and the citizen must notify the department of any change to this address within 30 days of the alteration. This law should be read in conjunction with the original Law No. (9) of 2001 and aims to keep pace with digital transformation and improve services provided to citizens. //Petra// AG
