20/ Asian Cup draw places Jordan in competitive group

Amman, May 9 (Petra) – The draw for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals, held on Saturday evening in the historic Al Turaif district of Diriyah in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, placed Jordan in a challenging Group B alongside Uzbekistan, Bahrain and North Korea.

The ceremony was organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and attended by representatives of participating national federations, Asian football officials and members of the local organising committee.

The 24 qualified teams were divided into six groups according to four seeding pots based on rankings.

Jordan's national team head coach, Jamal Al Salami, attended the event with the team delegation to follow the draw and assess Jordan's path in the continental tournament.

The ceremony included presentations highlighting the qualified teams before the live draw, which was conducted amid broad media coverage and strong reactions from fans as the groups were revealed.

Jordan's group is considered balanced but highly competitive, with teams of varying strengths, setting the stage for difficult matches in the battle to reach the knockout stage.

The Jordan national team aims to deliver a strong performance in the 2027 edition and further strengthen its presence in Asian competitions, building on its recent technical progress.

The AFC is expected to announce the full match schedule, including venues and kick-off times, in the coming hours as preparations continue for the tournament, which Saudi Arabia will host with the participation of 24 teams.
