55/ Ramtha celebrates winners of "Green Sheikh" Environmental Storytelling Award

Ramtha, May 6 (Petra) -- The Ramtha Directorate of Education held a ceremony on Wednesday at the Al-Nahda Secondary Mixed School to honor participants and winners of the "Green Sheikh" Award for Environmental Storytelling 2026.

The event was held under the patronage of the District Governor, Mahmoud Braizat, and in the presence of the initiative’s founder, Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Environmental Advisor to the Government of Ajman.

Head of the Directorate Faisal Al-Hawamdeh stated that the award aims to consolidate environmental awareness and promote a culture of sustainability among students through literary arts.

By focusing on human stories related to the environment and climate, the initiative empowers students to build a sustainable global vision, stimulates creativity in environmental protection, and links social responsibility with cultural storytelling.

He added that the award serves as an important platform for discovering and refining student talents, encouraging younger generations to adopt innovative approaches to sustainability.

Launched last February in cooperation with the Directorate’s Educational Supervision Department, the award included a training workshop led by Sheikh Al Nuaimi for the school's students.

The workshop focused on crafting narrative works such as short stories, novels, and essays. The ceremony featured various activities, including a play titled "A Tree’s Cry," which showcased the students' awareness of pressing environmental issues.

The event concluded with the announcement of the winners and the presentation of honorary shields to participants and organizers for their efforts in promoting climate and environmental literacy.
