33/ Israeli army arrests 17 Palestinians in occupied West Bank

Occupied Jerusalem, Ramallah, May 6 (Petra) – Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday arrested dozens of Palestinians, including women, children, and former prisoners, during widespread raids across the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club said 17 "wanted" people, including three women, were detained by the army in the raids across various towns and villages, where a number of people were injured or suffocated from tear gas fired by troops during clashes that erupted in several locations.

In Jerusalem, Israeli occupation authorities issued demolition orders for 50 shops and businesses in the town of Al-Eizariya, southeast of the city.

The Palestinian Jerusalem Governorate said in a statement that Israeli forces raided the town and notified owners of the impending demolition of the shops, located at the town's entrance, giving them until Sunday to heed the order.

The demolitions are part of the far-right Israeli government's "E1" settlement expansion plan in the area, it said.

Israeli occupation forces also demolished two homes in occupied Jerusalem and Ramallah, which authorities said were built without a permit.

The demolitions are part of what the Jerusalem Governorate called "restrictive measures" by imposing complex terms for obtaining building permits, making these virtually impossible, according to the statement.
