  20/ PM chairs first academy board meeting, calls for public sector overhaul

Amman, May 6 (Petra) – Prime Minister Jafar Hassan chaired the inaugural meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Jordanian Academy for Government Administration on Wednesday, following its establishment as the legal successor to the Institute of Public Administration.

During the meeting, the prime minister said the establishment of the academy is aimed at delivering a qualitative transformation in the preparation and training of public sector employees at all administrative levels, stressing the need to align its programs with institutional requirements, public policy priorities and national development objectives to ensure measurable outcomes.

He underscored the importance of adopting a comprehensive and sustainable institutional framework for capacity building, human capital development, leadership training and innovation, in line with international best practices, to enhance government performance and improve service delivery standards.

Hassan also highlighted the need to prioritize programs related to digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence and service digitization, calling for tangible improvements in service efficiency, processing times and user experience, as well as higher levels of citizen satisfaction.

Minister of State for Public Sector Development and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees Badriya Balbisi reviewed the academy’s general framework for the current and upcoming phases, including a portfolio of specialized programs and activities in public administration.

The meeting also discussed the academy’s strategic framework, proposed organizational structure, and a six-month implementation roadmap.
