  8/ Petra Sees 3,500 Domestic Visitors During Labor Day Holiday

Petra, May 1 (Petra)--The Chairperson of the the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Adnan Sawa'ir, said that approximately 3,500 Jordanians visited Petra during the Labor Day holiday as part of the "Urdunna Jannah" (Jordan is Paradise) program.

Sawa'ir noted that the city has around 5,000 hotel rooms and 7,000 beds, highlighting the available accommodation capacity compared to current occupancy levels. He added that hotel occupancy in Petra during the holiday reached 18 percent, reflecting the impact of ongoing regional conditions on tourism activity.

He emphasized that Petra remains Jordan’s leading destination for international tourists, pointing out that about 83 percent of foreign visitors to the Kingdom include Petra as their primary destination.

In the same context, around 13,000 participants took part in the "Urdunna Jannah" program during the holiday. They were distributed across 60 tourist routes, traveling on 280 buses accompanied by licensed tour guides, coinciding with the Labor Day holiday and the weekend.
