Amman, March 29 (Petra) – The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply fined 376 establishments for non-compliance with the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law and related legislation since the beginning of this month. In a statement issued Sunday, the ministry said its Market Monitoring Directorate addressed 129 complaints from citizens by market monitors deployed nationwide, adding that the necessary measures were taken to resolve these cases, reflecting "speed of response and effectiveness of oversight." The statement added that inspection teams conducted 471 tours, including 7,902 visits to commercial establishments in various governorates to ensure their compliance with applicable regulations and instructions. The ministry indicated that the Market Monitoring Directorate continues to implement the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law No. 18 of 1998, which monitors availability of basic food commodities. The law also seeks to verify displayed prices and compliance, monitor wholesale inventory, address any practices related to concealing goods or refusing to sell items, and monitor sales, clearances, and promotional offers. On its future plan, the ministry affirmed continuation of its monitoring campaigns to ensure market stability and consumer protection. The ministry urged citizens to submit their complaints and observations through official channels and the designated numbers: landline 06-5629045, or by sending a complaint via WhatsApp to 0797527832, or by email to MComplaint@mit.gov.jo. //Petra// AG
