21/ Environment ministry distributes 600 waste bins in Irbid during Eid holiday
Amman, March 25 (Petra) – Ministry of Environment has completed the distribution of 300 metal waste bins with a capacity of 1,100 liters each, as well as 300 hanging trash cans, across various municipalities in Irbid governorate. Targeting picnic areas, tourist and archaeological sites, this campaign was carried out in cooperation with all municipalities in the governorate. This step represents the first phase of the executive program for the National Cleanliness Strategy. The initiative falls under the pillar of improving infrastructure and ensuring cleanliness sustainability, which aims to reduce indiscriminate waste disposal and enhance public hygiene, particularly in areas with high visitor traffic. In its statement, the ministry said the distribution process was implemented, in accordance with a "well-planned" field strategy developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Administration and other partner ministries and institutions. This strategy ensured coverage of the most visited sites and improved waste collection services in the governorate. Implemented during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, the ministry said this campaign coincided with increased activity in tourist and recreational areas, which contributed to preserving the environment and cutting pollution. The ministry indicated that work will continue in the coming phases to distribute more containers and bins across the Kingdom's governorates, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the environment and promote healthy public practices. The ministry urged citizens to use the designated containers and bins for waste disposal and contribute to maintaining cleanliness of public areas, emphasizing its continued commitment to implementing environmental programs and initiatives nationwide. //Petra// AG
