5/ Jordan, Turkiye Review Regional De-Escalation Efforts
Amman, March 24 (Petra) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi held a phone call on Tuesday with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss efforts to contain the dangerous escalation in the region. The two ministers reviewed prospects for ending the escalation and limiting its security, political, and economic repercussions on regional security and stability. Safadi and Fidan also discussed ongoing efforts to end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and Israel’s illegal measures in the West Bank, which are undermining all prospects for achieving a just peace. The ministers renewed their condemnation of those measures and stressed the need for a concerted international effort to halt them immediately. Safadi also conveyed Jordan’s condolences over the deaths of several Turkish members and affiliates of the joint Qatari-Turkish forces in a helicopter crash in Qatar caused by a technical malfunction. //Petra// AO
