19/ Police warn of unstable weather conditions

Amman, March 24 (Petra) – The Public Security Directorate (PSD) warned of unstable weather conditions on Wednesday, with rainfall expected to begin in southern regions, including Aqaba.

According to official weather reports, rainfall may be heavy at times and accompanied by thunderstorms and hail.

On Tuesday, the PSD urged the public to take necessary precautions, adhere to safety guidelines and avoid valleys, flood-prone areas and low-lying regions, particularly in Aqaba and the Dead Sea.

It called for not attempting to cross pooled or flowing water, whether on foot or by vehicle.

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously on wet roads and remain alert due to reduced visibility caused by fog in mountainous areas and dust in desert regions.

The PSD warned of strong winds and gusts, urging residents to secure loose objects that could be blown away. It urged the safe use of heating devices, cautioning against refueling heaters while in use and recommending they be turned off before sleeping.

The PSD urged proper and continuous ventilation in homes and warned against using wood-burning stoves due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

It stated that it is fully ready to respond to emergencies and called on the public to use the unified emergency number (911) when necessary.
