New York, Mar. 18 (Petra) -- The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold an open briefing session on Wednesday to discuss the political and humanitarian situation in Syria, followed by closed consultations.

The political briefing is expected to be delivered by Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Claudio Cordone, while
Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Joyce Msuya, will present the humanitarian update.
