Amman, Mar. 17 (Petra) – Ministry of Agriculture and the Jordanian National Centre for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases Control (JCDC) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the "One Health" approach. This step would support public health and enhance national health security by integrating efforts to prevent zoonotic diseases and promote safety and sustainability of Jordan's food production. Minister of Agriculture Dr. Saeb Khraisat and the Center's Director, Dr. Adel Belbisi signed the memo. According to a ministry statement , Dr. Khraisat said the memo aligns with the ministry's efforts to strengthen "integrated" work across various sectors. The minister stressed integration of the "One Health" approach contributes to protecting livestock and ensuring sustainability of agricultural and food production. Khraisat added that this cooperation enhances the Kingdom's capacity to prevent zoonotic diseases and "effectively" address emerging health challenges, which would "positively" impact food and health security. In turn, Belbisi said this memo reflects national trends to build a "more integrated and prepared" healthcare system. Belbisi noted strengthening "institutional" partnerships and exchanging data and expertise enhances "efficiency" of early detection of health risks and contributes to reducing the spread of epidemics. He stated the "One Health" approach constitutes a "strategic" path that strengthens interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health, and supports Jordan's position in regional health security field. //Petra// AG
