2/ Unsettled Weather Expected From Friday as Rain Moves In Over Weekend
Amman, March 12 (Petra) -- Weather conditions are expected to turn increasingly unsettled from Friday, with rain forecast in several regions over the weekend as a low-pressure system approaches, the Jordan Meteorological Department said. Temperatures on Thursday are expected to remain close to seasonal averages, bringing mild conditions across most regions and warmer weather in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba. Medium and high clouds are forecast, with a slight chance of brief light showers in limited parts of the northeastern Badia. Moderate easterly winds may become active at times, raising dust particularly in desert areas before shifting to northwesterly in the evening. The department warned of reduced visibility due to blowing dust in several regions, especially in the Badia, and urged people with respiratory conditions to take necessary precautions. Mild conditions are expected to continue on Friday as cloud cover increases at different altitudes. By evening, scattered light showers may develop in parts of the southern regions. Southeasterly to southwesterly winds are expected to become active at times, raising dust particularly in desert areas. Weather conditions are forecast to deteriorate on Saturday as a low-pressure system begins affecting the country. Skies are expected to turn partly cloudy to overcast, with intermittent rain showers in several regions that may occasionally be accompanied by thunder and hail. Southeasterly to southwesterly winds are expected to strengthen, with strong gusts at times, particularly in southern areas, raising dust across many regions. Another low-pressure system centered over Cyprus is forecast to affect the country on Sunday, bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures. Rain is expected from early morning hours across northern and central regions, extending at times to limited parts of southwestern and northeastern areas. Southwesterly winds are expected to be moderate to active with occasional strong gusts. Temperatures in eastern Amman on Thursday are expected to range between 19 C and 8 C, compared with 17 C and 6 C in western Amman. Aqaba is forecast to record highs of 27 C and lows of 14 C. //Petra// RZ
