  27/ Military Retirees Highlight Army’s Air Defense Capabilities Amid Regional Tensions

Amman, March 7 (Petra) -- Jordanian military retirees said they have closely observed the high capability of the defense system in detecting and intercepting hostile missiles and aerial objects, noting that it demonstrates the professionalism of the Jordan Armed Forces Arab Army, which has an integrated system that safeguards citizens’ security amid regional tensions.

Director General of the Economic and Social Association of Retired Servicemen and Veterans (ESARSV), Retired Maj. Gen. Adnan Ahmad Al-Raqqad, in remarks to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), praised the Arab Army's readiness, which successfully dealt with threats aimed at undermining national sovereignty. He noted that the Jordan Armed Forces demonstrated high efficiency through the Royal Jordanian Air Force, which effectively dealt with hostile objects, reflecting the development of technical capabilities and operational readiness in protecting the airspace.

He added that the success achieved by the Jordan Armed Forces the Arab Army, the Royal Jordanian Air Force, and air defense systems in intercepting missiles that attempted to penetrate Jordanian airspace is clear evidence of the advanced level reached by Jordan’s military capabilities, both in terms of operational readiness and high technical efficiency in dealing with various threats.

Al-Raqqad noted that members of the armed forces and security agencies continue to perform their national duty with honor and dedication, based on a firm military doctrine centered on protecting the homeland and defending its sovereignty. He affirmed that military retirees stand today, as they did in the past, united behind the wise Hashemite leadership and proudly support the efforts of the armed forces in protecting Jordan’s security and stability.

Retired Major General Mohammed Ali Ababneh stated that the successful interception operations demonstrate that the Jordan Armed Forces have advanced early-warning and monitoring systems, along with a high level of coordination among different military units, allowing them to respond to potential threats quickly and accurately.

He added that the Jordanian army, whose combat doctrine is an extension of its honorable history in defending the homeland and the nation, has once again proven that it is a professional force with high efficiency and that the readiness of the air force and air defense reflects many years of training and continuous development.

Retired Major General Hilal Al-Khawaldeh said that amid the security challenges facing the region, the Jordanian Armed Forces the Arab Army and security agencies have demonstrated high efficiency and constant vigilance in protecting the homeland and safeguarding its security and stability.

He noted that various defense systems, particularly the air defense systems and the Royal Jordanian Air Force, effectively dealt with aerial threats by intercepting a total of 108 targets, which included Iranian missiles and drones that posed a danger to the safety of citizens and vital facilities. He emphasized that this success reflects a high level of readiness, the availability of capabilities, and strong coordination among different units of the armed forces and relevant security agencies. Additionally, he highlighted the advanced technological capabilities in monitoring, early warning, and responding to threats approaching national airspace.

Al-Khawaldeh added that considerable efforts were also exerted in the security and media fields to confront rumors and psychological warfare accompanying the conflict, which spread through various channels, most notably social media platforms.

He said that security agencies, the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, and the National Cyber Security Center have worked to track and refute these rumors and provide citizens with accurate information in a timely manner, while issuing guidance on how to deal with flying objects and shrapnel in a way that strengthens public confidence and prevents the spread of misleading news aimed at causing anxiety or confusion within Jordanian society.

He explained that this integration between the army’s high operational readiness and public security awareness reflects the strength of Jordan’s state institutions and their ability to protect the country under various circumstances, stressing that the nation’s security and stability are the result of continuous efforts and major sacrifices by the armed forces, security agencies and other state institutions.

Retired Brigadier Mahmoud Al-Maharmeh said that the armed forces’ success in intercepting missiles reflects an advanced level of military professionalism and operational discipline, noting that such operations require high accuracy in monitoring, assessment and decision-making, which the Jordanian security system carried out efficiently.

He added that Jordan, thanks to its wise Hashemite leadership and the efficiency of its military and security institutions, has been able to maintain its security and stability despite the crises and conflicts surrounding the region, reinforcing Jordanians’ confidence in their national institutions’ ability to protect the homeland.

Retired Brigadier Abdullah Al-Qaraleh said that the defensive measures carried out by the Jordanian Armed Forces reflect constant vigilance and a high level of readiness to protect the Kingdom’s skies, noting that the Royal Jordanian Air Force and air defense systems form a strong shield for safeguarding national sovereignty.

He added that military retirees, who spent years of service in the fields of honor, feel pride in the achievements made by their fellow soldiers in the line of duty, affirming their support for the Hashemite leadership, the armed forces and security agencies in protecting Jordan and preserving its security and stability.

The retirees concluded by affirming that Jordan, thanks to its national unity, the cohesion of its internal front, and the efficiency of its armed forces and security agencies, will remain a safe and stable homeland capable of confronting various challenges and that the Arab Army will always remain the strong shield that protects the nation and safeguards its dignity and sovereignty.

Earlier on Saturday, the Jordan Armed Forces said in a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management that the Royal Jordanian Air Force had intercepted and destroyed 108 missiles and drones out of a total of 119 launched.

The briefing added that border guard units had been reinforced with the necessary equipment, devices and weapons to enable them to deal with the exceptional circumstances and confront any attempts that could threaten the nation’s security and stability.
