8/ Social Security Investment Fund Denies Financing Diplomatic Missions

Amman, March 3 (Petra) – The Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) on Tuesday denied reports alleging that it financed the purchase or construction of Jordanian diplomatic missions abroad, describing the circulating information as inaccurate and misleading.

In a statement, the Fund clarified that the document referenced in recent claims dates back nearly 13 years and related to a preliminary investment concept that was subject to feasibility assessment at the time. The proposal was structured under a financial leasing model, whereby the Fund would acquire ownership of the property and lease it to the government, generating stable, long-term returns.

Under the proposed arrangement, the government would have paid periodic lease installments over the contract term, with ownership transferring upon completion of all payments.

The Fund confirmed that the proposal was neither approved nor implemented. It explained that the evaluation process identified legal and procedural constraints associated with the project’s nature, precluding a final investment decision and halting further action under the prevailing framework.

The SSIF underscored that its investment decisions are governed by a robust corporate governance structure grounded in comprehensive feasibility studies, risk assessments, and due diligence procedures. It added that all approved and executed investments are publicly disclosed in line with transparency and accountability standards.

The Fund noted that detailed information regarding its portfolio performance and investment activities is available through its official website and annual reports, urging the public to rely on verified sources and avoid circulating incomplete or out-of-context information.
