Baghdad, March 3 (Petra) Iraqi authorities announced Tuesday that they had thwarted an attempted rocket attack targeting official facilities and sites in the capital, Baghdad.

According to a statement from the Iraqi Security Media Cell, security forces seized a launch platform prepared to fire nine rockets in the Abu Ghraib area, west of Baghdad.

The rockets were reportedly intended to strike vital installations in the city.

The statement said the operation was carried out based on intelligence information, and that engineering teams dismantled the launch platform.
