24/ Lower House: 'We stand behind King to protect country, national  stability'

Amman, March 2 (Petra) – Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi said on Monday that the legislature stands firmly behind His Majesty King Abdullah II in all decisions and measures he takes to protect the country and safeguard its stability.

During a legislative session, attended by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and cabinet members, Qadi condemned Iranian missile attacks on the Kingdom and the Gulf Arab states as "a serious aggression against the sovereignty of nations and a blatant violation of international law and good neighborliness, which threaten to expand the circle of conflict in the region."

In light of the ongoing military confrontations between the United States and Israel, and Iran, Jordan rejects any breach of its sovereignty, and it will not be a battleground for any conflict, he reiterated.

The Speaker said that before military operations began, Jordan spared no effort in seeking a peaceful solution to the Iranian issue, supporting all avenues of dialogue and settlement.

Despite this position, the Iranian side violated our territory in an unacceptable behavior, which was countered by the armed forces and the Royal Jordanian Air Force, he added.

Qadi also condemned attacks targeting the brotherly Gulf Arab states, stressing that the security of the Gulf is Jordan's security, and that the Kingdom supports its brothers in all the steps they take to protect their countries.
