22/ Lebanon bans Hezbollah security, military activities
Beirut, March 2 (Petra) – Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said on Monday the government "absolutely rejects any military or security operations launched from Lebanese territory outside its legitimate institutions." "The government decided on an immediate ban on all Hezbollah's security and military activities, considering these illegal, and obligating it to surrender its weapons to the Lebanese state and confine its activities to the political sphere," he said in remarks after a cabinet meeting. "The government considered Hezbollah's actions as a violation of cabinet decisions," he said. The statement also said the government is fully prepared to resume negotiations, with civilian participation and under international auspices, urging countries that sponsored a ceasefire agreement to secure a clear commitment from Israel to cease hostile actions against Lebanon. //Petra//SS
