23/ National football team kicks off official World Cup training camp in Portland
Amman, June 13 (Petra) -- Jordan's national football team has commenced its technical and physical training sessions at its official preparation camp in Portland, Oregon, in anticipation of "Al-Nashama’s" historic first-ever appearance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The national team delegation, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association (JFA), arrived in Portland to a warm reception from members of the Jordanian expatriate community, who gathered to welcome and support the squad ahead of their global campaign. Led by Moroccan manager Jamal Sellami, the team conducted its first official training session on Saturday evening with all players participating, following the designated technical and physical preparation program for the tournament. The final 26-player World Cup roster includes Yazeed Abulaila, Abdullah Al-Fakhouri, Noureddin Bani Ateyah, Abdallah Nasib, Saed Al-Rosan, Yazan Al-Arab, Saleem Obaid, Mohammad Abu Al-Nadi, Hossam Abu Dahab, Ehsan Haddad, Anas Badawi, Mohannad Abu Taha, Mohammad Abu Hasheesh, Mohammad Abu Ghoush, Noor Al-Rawabdeh, Nizar Al-Rashdan, Ibrahim Sadeh, Rajaei Ayed, Amer Jamous, Mohammad Al-Dawoud, Mahmoud Mardi, Oudeh Al-Fakhoury, Musa Al-Taamari, Mohammad Abu Zrayq, Ali Azaizeh, and Ali Olwan. Sellami expressed his profound pride in leading the national team to the World Cup finals, noting that competing on this global sports stage offers a premier opportunity to showcase a bright image of Jordan internationally and reflects the significant development of Jordanian football in recent years. He added that Jordan's group is one of the toughest in the tournament, featuring reigning world champions Argentina, alongside Algeria and Austria. However, he emphasized that Al-Nashama is determined to deliver performances that do justice to Jordanian football and achieve an honorable run in their debut World Cup. Jordan will compete in Group J alongside Argentina, Algeria, and Austria. The national team will kick off its campaign against Austria at 7:00 AM on Wednesday, June 17, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara (near San Francisco). They will then face Algeria at 6:00 AM on Tuesday, June 23, at the same venue, before concluding the group stage against Argentina at 5:00 AM on Sunday, June 28, at AT&T Stadium in Dallas (all times in Amman local time). //Petra// AF
