17/ Jordan Valley Authority launches national afforestation and volunteering campaign
Amman, June 13 (Petra) -- The Jordan Valley Authority, on Saturday, in partnership with the Crown Prince Foundation’s "Nahno" platform and the Ministry of Agriculture, launched a national afforestation and volunteer initiative to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Kingdom's Independence Day, the King's Accession to the Throne, Army Day, and the Great Arab Revolt anniversary. The Secretary-General of the Jordan Valley Authority, Hisham Al-Hissa, said that this initiative embodies royal directives aimed at empowering youth and enhancing their role in construction and development. He pointed out that partnerships among national institutions represent a model of integrated work that contributes to community service, resource preservation, and sustainable development. Al-Hissa added that celebrating national occasions serves as an important milestone to commemorate Jordan's achievements throughout its history, renew loyalty and belonging to the homeland and the Hashemite leadership, and draw inspiration from the values of dedication that laid the foundations of the modern Jordanian renaissance. For his part, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mohammad Al-Hyari, stressed the importance of national initiatives that combine environmental and voluntary dimensions. He explained that the ministry works alongside various institutions to implement programs that help expand green spaces and enhance environmental awareness among different segments of society, particularly the youth, whom he described as essential partners in achieving sustainable development goals and protecting natural resources. The event featured awareness and volunteer programs focusing on environmental preservation and social responsibility, alongside youth activities aimed at consolidating the values of teamwork and community service. During the event, poet Amjad Al-Haqeesh recited a patriotic poem highlighting Jordan's developmental journey and expressions of pride in the nation and its leadership. Additionally, the Jordanian Riders group, in cooperation with the Jordan Traffic Institute, participated in field activities aimed at promoting traffic safety and public discipline. The initiative concluded with a tree-planting campaign involving attendees, volunteers, and youth to expand green cover, foster environmental consciousness, and encourage community participation in safeguarding natural resources, aligning with national efforts to achieve environmental sustainability.
