Irbid, June 9 (Petra) -- Yarmouk University President Malek Alsharairi and Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in higher education, scientific research, technology and culture, as well as expanding academic and student exchange programs.

During the meeting, Alsharairi stressed that international cooperation is a central pillar of the university’s strategic priorities for advancing higher education and scientific research. He reviewed the university’s achievements over the past five decades in contributing to national development through the preparation of qualified graduates.

He added that Yarmouk University places special emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence applications and modern technologies into its academic programs to enhance the competitiveness of its graduates in the labor market. He also expressed the university’s aspiration to establish a "Chinese Village" on campus as a cultural space that would introduce students and visitors to Chinese civilization.

Alsharairi further affirmed the university’s readiness to attract more Chinese students to study Arabic as a foreign language.

For his part, Ambassador Guo praised Yarmouk University’s academic standing and highlighted the strong historical and educational ties between Jordan and China. He expressed the embassy’s willingness to support the university’s efforts to build effective partnerships with leading Chinese universities and expand exchange, scholarship and training programs.

On the sidelines of the visit, the ambassador met with Chinese students enrolled at Yarmouk University, listened to their academic experiences, and encouraged them to serve as ambassadors for the university in China, helping strengthen ties of friendship between the two peoples.

Separately, Jadara University, represented by its president, Habis Al-Zaboun, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Arab Media Network, represented by Abdullah Abu Khudair on behalf of the network’s chief executive officer, aimed at enhancing cooperation in media, academic and training fields.

The agreement seeks to develop students’ skills, better prepare them for the media labor market, and strengthen integration between academic learning and practical application in the media sector.

Al-Zaboun said Jadara University continues to pursue strategic partnerships with leading media institutions as part of its vision to provide an advanced educational environment that combines academic knowledge with practical experience and prepares qualified media professionals capable of keeping pace with rapid developments in the communications and media industries.

Dean of the Faculty of Media Walid Amisha said the memorandum represents an important step toward expanding practical training opportunities for students and enabling them to benefit from specialized professional expertise, thereby enhancing their skills and competitiveness in the job market.

Abu Khudair said the partnership would help provide an advanced training environment for students and strengthen cooperation between academic and media institutions in ways that support the development of the media sector and improve professional outcomes.

Mohammad Al-Tal, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Arab Media Network, emphasized the importance of the agreement in opening new avenues for cooperation in training, media production and knowledge exchange while enhancing students’ opportunities to acquire practical skills.

Under the memorandum, the two sides will cooperate in specialized media training, exchange expertise and knowledge, organize joint training programs and workshops, and support practical training for students of the Faculty of Media and Communication Technology at the Arab Media Network’s facilities. The agreement also provides opportunities for students to showcase their media productions through the network’s platforms.
