  27/ Parliamentary committee, Azerbaijani ambassador talk cooperation

Amman, June 9 (Petra) – The Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by MP Haitham Ziyadin, met on Tuesday with the Azerbaijan Ambassador to Jordan, Shahin Abdullayev, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation and work between the two countries in various fields.

Talking at the meeting, Ziyadin emphasized the "strong" Jordanian-Azerbaijani relations, which are based on continuous cooperation and mutual respect.

The lawmaker stressed the House's keenness to strengthen bilateral relations and support areas of joint work, aimed to achieve common interests and promote "sustainable" development, particularly in the economic, investment, and tourism sectors.

Calling for turning challenges into opportunities for mutual cooperation, Ziyadin noted Azerbaijan's natural resources, mainly gas and oil, which open up "broad" horizons for cooperation and exchange expertise.

Ziyadin and committee members MPs Mohammad Sabaileh and Ali Ghizawi commended Azerbaijan's supportive stances on His Majesty King Abdullah II's positions regarding the Palestinian cause and its support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's holy sites.

In turn, the Azerbaijani ambassador praised level of bilateral relations, emphasizing his country's desire to strengthen ties in various fields, mainly economic and trade fields, as well as expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector, given Jordan's "distinguished" expertise in this area.

The diplomat also referred to vision to establish a joint investment project or fund to strengthen bilateral economic relations, affirming his government's readiness to develop mutual cooperation and exchange expertise to achieve common benefits.
