Amman, June 8 (Petra) -- National football team head coach Jamal Sellami expressed satisfaction with the technical benefits gained from Jordan's friendly match against Colombia, which ended early Monday in the United States with a 2-0 victory for the South American side. The match served as the Nashama's final test before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In remarks following the game, Sellami said Jordan faced a strong opponent and benefited from the experience by evaluating various technical and tactical aspects of the team's performance. He added that the coaching staff is working to address shortcomings identified during the match, which he said would contribute to improving the team's performance in the next phase of preparations. Sellami stressed that the team remains focused on reaching peak readiness ahead of the World Cup finals, highlighting the importance of being fully prepared for the opening group-stage match against Austria. He also welcomed the fact that no injuries were reported among the squad following the match. The 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup is set to begin next Thursday, with Jordan competing in Group J alongside Argentina, Algeria, and Austria. The Nashama will open its World Cup campaign against Austria at 7 a.m. on June 17 at Santa Clara Stadium in San Francisco. Jordan will then face Algeria at 6 a.m. on June 23 at the same venue before concluding the group stage against Argentina at 5 a.m. on June 28 at Dallas Stadium.
